Deck Rebuild

When we moved into our new house in 2020, we knew the old deck needed to be torn down and rebuilt. The framing was rotten and the decking boards were warped, it was painted over as couple times and all that paint was peeling…

We wanted to go with something that was low maintenance. No maintenance is not really a thing, but we certainly wanted something that was low maintenance.

We went with two tones of Trex decking with 2x10 pressure treated wood frame. Screws and hardware are all stainless steel with hidden fasteners. The railings are aluminum and vinyl and I used the composite decking for that for the top rail. We wanted the railings to be wide enough that you could stand there and put a drink on them and it wouldn’t be in danger of falling off. One of these days, we’ll have a house warming party and get to enjoy all of these things with our friends.

Over all - I took a week off of work to do this project. It was and was not relaxing.
