Dragon Head

This project is not finished yet. Ultimately this will replace a horse head that we have on a pole from when we moved into this house in 2020.
This started with digital sculpting - something I was not super familiar with. I’ve done a TON of modeling in Blender and Fusion 360 for 3d printing, but this was my second time trying a sculpt.
This was done on my iPad in Nomad using an active stylus (not Apple Pencil).
This was my process:
Sculpt in Nomad
Print on FDM (Makerbot Replicator 2) printer
Patch / strengthen print with 3d printing pen
Pack dragon head in foundry sand mold
Melt / burn out PLA with a blow torch and the gas grill
Melt down as much aluminum as can fit in my crucible
Keep mold hot with blow torch
Pour in enough molten aluminum (all I could fit in my crucible) so that you need to make a second pour - which is why the neck looks weird and she doesn’t have chin spikes :/
“Polish” with a wire brush attached to your drill because you do not have a bench grinder yet
Epoxy everything together - drop it on the concrete floor and then re epoxy everything back together
